Spotlight Saturday #5
Hello bookworms! Welcome back to Josie’s Book Corner on this mighty fine Saturday! I’m sure by now you know what Saturday means… Spotlight Saturday!
Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner [aka, moi], dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.
As usual, this feature is open to every single one of you bookworms to do if you would like to! It’s a wonderful way to bring some love to the blogging community and to acknowledge some of the great things of your week!
There are so many beloved bloggers that I’ve come to know and become quite close to over the past months I’ve been blogging! But there is one blogger that has been long overdue to be spotlighted. This blogger is a lovely lady who I am constantly chatting to on the blogosphere and on Twitter. She is so supportive and so active when it comes to commenting on my posts and I return the same love she gives to me and my blog. I should say her name, shouldn’t I? Cristina @ My Tiny Obsessions!
Cristina’s blog is so wonderful. She always posts quality, entertaining content and better yet, she is so friendly and loyal! She is a lovely person that I urge you to follow. You will be missing out if you don’t!
Cristina, you are lovely! Keep being you and keep doing what you do.
This week’s spotlighted post goes to the one and only Jenny @ Jenny In Neverland. The other day, she posted Secret London: The Cities Hidden Gems which was simply fabulous! She discussed her city, London, and all the hidden wonderful spots to visit if you ever go there. Not your usual tourist sites, but the ones less explored, the ones people don’t normally know about!
If anything, it made me and my wanderlust cry because I wanted to visit all the places so badly! It’s no doubt that when I (hopefully soon) visit London, I will be visiting ALL the places Jenny mentioned. I WANT TO EXPLORE ALL THE PLACES! So please, check out her post.
It will fill you with the lust to go to London.
There is only one book for this occasion. You must know what it is. Come on, I know you know. Yes, it is Queen of Shadows, written by the queen: Sarah J Maas! I am almost halfway through and my face when thinking about this book and when reading it is literally the heart-eyes emoji! Sarah J Maas never fails me. Even is Chaol is kind of a jerk in the book *sad face*.
Wow… I don’t know! I feel like this week basically flew by with nothing really happening. Although, I will have to spotlight one thing. It’s not particularly a great thing, but it’s something that was an event that made such an impact on this week. Last Saturday I went to a quiz night fundraiser hosted by my church for one of our church members who had cancer, Andy.
It was a fun night, and Andy actually made an appearance to the quiz night! It was so emotional and amazing when he came to the front of a huge room full of people – Christian and non-Christian – and declared that he still had strong faith in God despite his condition. I swear to you, it was such a powerful moment. It was sad, but it was uplifting and encouraging. Even though I never knew him in person, I was almost in tears!
The next day, he was rushed into hospital and was in a critical condition, and later that night, he passed away. I never knew him personally, but all the while, I still cried. What was amazing though, was that he had so much faith, even in such a dark time. And while it was so incredibly sad to see him go for so many people, he is an inspiration. For someone to have strong faith, right up until the end, makes me think that if he can do it, I can do it too.
The best part? We raised $35,000.
I actually don’t have any apps to spotlight this week! I have been using the same and haven’t downloaded any new apps, so tell me your favourite app at the moment in the comments!
Hm… what song? Hard decisions! I have discovered so many wonderful songs this week, but one that has really stuck in my head this month is How Deep Is Your Love by Calvin Harris, Disciples. I suggest you all check it out because it’s fabulous. The female lead singer has such a unique voice and when she sings the chorus? *shivers*
This week’s spotlighted quote comes from a song that I adore: Pursue by Hillsong. There are a couple of lines in the lyrics that I love so much:
Through the fire I’ll persevere, I won’t submit to any fear
Where I go, you’ve been before
All my trust is in you Lord
Tell me your fabulous thoughts, bookworms!
