His Plan Is Bigger Than You Know // Spiritual Sunday

“For I consider that what we suffer at this present time cannot be compared at all with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.” – Romans 8:18 (Good News Translation)

Life, even in Christ, isn’t a leisurely walk in the park. In fact, I believe that when we give our life to God and choose to live for him, we become even bigger targets for attacks and hardships because the reality is, that the devil has to work even harder to get us back to the ‘dark side’. And I think this is a problem for many of us, especially during our early stages in our walk with God. We think, since we have God on our side, he will keep away all the horrible situations and will bless us – and bless us he will, but not without a little bit of shaping and moulding. This shaping comes from being put through trials and hardships and this is what we sometimes forget, I think.

I admit, sometimes I fall into the mindset that God has got me and nothing bad will happen to  me, and then something horrible will happen and my faith will falter a little – or a lot, depending on the situation. Sometimes I sit at home, and hear the news of what is going on in the wider world, and I wonder to myself: What is God up to? Where is he in that situation? Our world is going a little crazy, and many people around the world are facing extreme hardships. But in Romans 8:18, the Bible tells us that as huge as the hardships we as people and our world as a whole are facing, it cannot compare to what God has planned to reveal to us. If you really think about that, God’s great plan is so much bigger than everything happening in the world today. It’s so much bigger than the trouble you’re going through right now. He has a plan for your life that will lift you up to the highest of places that will make your current problems seem like a grain of sand.

“We know that in all things, God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28 (GNT)

It’s always good to remind yourself that there are much bigger plans going on that have yet to be revealed for us. We tend to multiply the seriousness of our problems and make them bigger than they actually are – I can agree with this personally – only to realize later on how insignificant it was.

I can’t pretend to know what everyone is going through. But no matter how bad it is, be encouraged that God knows all that was and is to happen and he has planned it all to work for good, for you. Let’s have a little bit of faith, and patience, because I promise you, your suffering right now, will not last forever. Trust in God alone!

“For it was by hope that we were saved; but if we see what we hope for, then it is not really hope. For who of us hopes for something we see? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” – Romans 8:24-25 (GNT)

We may not know when our pain will end, we may not know when this horrible thing happening in our lives will stop being horrible, we don’t know when or how we will get over our pain, but that’s the point – hope. If we could see the outcome of every bad situation we went through, what good would it do for us? But God knows. And since God does all things for good, let’s turn our eyes and hearts to him and hope for the amazing plan that he has for us.
