Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner [aka, moi], dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.
Hello bookworms and welcome back! It’s the first Saturday of the year, and with that, it is also the first Spotlight Saturday of the year. Isn’t that awesome? I have a great line up of spotlights this week, so sit back and get comfy with a cup of tea, and let’s get right into the spotlights!
With the end of the year happening this week, bloggers all over the blogosphere have been sharing their love for one another. In my last Spotlight Saturday post, I took my turn at spreading the love to all my favourite bloggers and it was wonderful.
But this week, to start off the new year, I am spotlighting avery lovely blogger who I have been chatting with regularly lately and have come to love their blog – Tamara @ Tamaraniac. Tamara is absolutely lovely. She comments on many of my blog posts, always has something nice to say, and is wonderful to talk to over Twitter. I’m sure we will be doing a lot more chatting and more in the future, this year!

This week I started reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and I am almost halfway through and enjoying it. I’m so excited and happy that I am finally getting around to this series. Granted, it’s a Middle Grade series, but I’m not an adult yet, so I don’t need to feel bad about reading it – not that anyone would feel bad about reading it, even in their older age!
Definitely the turning of the new year. For New Year’s Eve, I went out with my best friends to go see the fireworks at midnight. We went up to Kings Park in the city and admired the beautiful view of Perth city. At about 10pm it got so windy and cold, but for the first part of the night it was a beautiful warm night (I totally regretted not bringing my jacket).
The fireworks were pretty, and although they weren’t as good as we expected, they were better than nothing! It was wonderful going into the new year with some of the people I hold close to my heart.
I’m so bad with this app thing – I don’t have one this week! I don’t download new apps that much, and I am usually using the same apps constantly. So give me some app recommendations, you guys!
Marvin Gaye by Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor. First of all, I ADORE Charlie Puth’s voice. It’s amazing and I could probably listen to it all day. Secondly, I LOVE Meghan Trainor’s voice – especially in conjunction with Charlie’s voice. Together they make the most glorious sounds. This song is also a song I could listen to over and over again. It reminds me of old-school proms and such!
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; Do you not perceive it?

This bible verse is perfect for this week. As we go into the new year, we are beginning a new thing, and in turn,God is preparing for us a new thing. This encourages me to look ahead to the year in front of me and what there is in store for me, rather than look back and hold onto anything of the year that has just passed!
Look forward to tomorrow, when I start my new feature: Spiritual Sunday, where I go even deeper into this! I’m excited!
