IT’S THE LAST SATURDAY OF THE YEAR… WHAAAAT?! | Spotlight Saturday #14

Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner [aka, moi], dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.

Can you believe it? It’s the last Saturday of the year! WHAAATTTT?! I don’t know about you, but I’m a tad surprised. I’ve only done fourteen Spotlight Saturdays all year! (But then again, I did start this feature about halfway through the year).
And so, Christmas has passed. Once again, Merry Christmas to you all! I hope you all had a fantastic time with your family and friends. I sure did, but you’ll hear more about that in my spotlighted moments. But… this week I will be doing Spotlight Saturday a little differently. In honour of the last Saturday of the year, I am going to do a huge blogger spotlight, where I spotlight many of you who were either here for me from the very beginning, or have come to me as my blog developed over the years. I want to spread ALL THE LOVE to you guys, who have supported me so much.

And so, without further delay…

Slide1

To the bloggers that were here for me since the beginning, you guys were the ones that noticed me, started commenting on my blog and creating a huge and awesome bookish community for me to be a part of. Thank you so much to all of you who helped me feel accepted and loved and pushed me to keep doing what I love: writing and reading:

Analee @ Book SnacksYou were one of the first bloggers I found when I started, and I admired your blog so much. In fact, I still do! Thank you for taking the time to comment on my posts and communicate with me.

Raven @ Dreamy AddictionsI love your blog. Your book recommendation features and everything else. Most of all, I love that you comment on almost all of my posts! You make me feel so loved. *hugs*

Gabby @ Gabby The Dauntless WarlockWhen I first started blogging, your blog was one  I followed from the beginning. Thank you for playing a part in continuing my blogging journey.

Michelle @ The Writing HufflepuffFrom what I remember, I’m pretty sure you’ve been a blog I’ve followed from the beginning. I adore talking to you and reading your posts, which always lift my mood. And you make me want to read Harry Potter.

Ashley @ Socially Awkward BookwormThank you for sharing adorable pictures of your cat and dog, your beloved Colbyjack is now my beloved too! He’s the cutest. And I really appreciate the comments you leave on my blog posts. I really do!

Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane BooksYour blog has been one of my favourites since I started blogging.

Becca @ Becca and BooksYour blog was another I really looked up to. When I first started, I was shy but at the same time, I wanted your attention! Looking back at it now, it sounds so silly.

Joey @ Thoughts and AfterthoughtsYour blog was the only blog I looked up to so incredibly when I first started, and for the first few months. So, scratch that. I still look up to your blog and your ability to throw out the most eloquent of words and put them together in countless sentences. Your discussion posts were, and still are, the bomb dot com.

To all my new preciouses who I’ve discovered and come to love over the years, this next shoutout goes to you. For being blogs that I look up to, and for being bloggers that I adore communicating with:

Joey @ Thoughts and AfterthoughtsEh, why the heck not? I AM FEATURING YOU TWICE, because you’re still so awesome. Granted, we don’t communicate as much as when we used to (so many blogs, so little time), but when I do read one of your posts, I’m blown away all over again by your wit, and writing abilities.

Anjie @ Love Thy ShelfAnjie has been a pleasure to become friends with over the internet this year. Connecting through our love of Sarah J Maas and our buddy reading of Queen of Shadows, I feel like I’ve found such a good internet friend. So, here I say, love you Anjie! Thank you for  being so awesome.

Cristina @ My Tiny ObsessionsAlong with Anjie, I’ve bonded with Cristina over our buddy reads and through our blogs. I’m so glad to have met you online, you are such a joy to be on this blogging and reading journey with!

Aila @ One Way or and AuthorAila not only has a fantastic blog, but she also multitasks and manages to awesomely and successfully co-blog over at Happy Indulgence! Awesome reviews, awesome blog posts and a generally all-round great person!

Jeann @ Happy IndulgenceJeann hosts and runs Happy Indulgence, and I am so glad to have discovered her this year. Not only does she co-blog with two other lovely lady bloggers, her blog is full of bookish and also non-bookish topics, such as gaming! It’s wonderful to take a mini-break and see what’s going on in the gaming world sometimes.

Jenna @ Reading With JennaJenna is the other co-blogger at Happy Indulgence. She is also amazing at her multi-tasking/blogging skills. I always look forward to any of her posts on her blog, and she is so social and communicates on the blog and on Twitter very actively.

Cait @ Paper FuryAnd I save the best for last. This world-domination-hungry, bookworm blogger has been amazing. I wish I’d known about her blog when I first started, because my goodness. I would have been singing her praises and bowing down to her awesome blogging. Cait is witty and hilarious and all her posts – seriously, ALL – are so incredibly entertaining. And she is a pro at bookish photograhy. A PRO.

Slide2

I have quite a few spotlighted posts to share with you all today, so stay with me, don’t go away! These are posts you’ll want to click on and read immediately, i assure you.

Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books discussed her thoughts on e-books and how they’re practical and have their pros, but will never replace the beauty of a physical book.

Cait @ Paper Fury wrapped up her year in books and did a whole lot of bookish shrieking.

Jeanette @ Myraid Inklings shared all the pretty stationary she got in her latest Muji haul. (STATIONARY IS AMAZING. I AM ONLY SLIGHTLY OBSESSED.)

Catia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much listed a bunch of amazing tote bags, mugs and laptop cases, perfect gifts to get your favourite bookworm friend in her bookish gift guide, part two!

Michelle @ The Writing Hufflepuff had me nodding and squealing in agreement with her discussion post regarding authors posting multiple books in the same world. (What’s wrong with that, right? NOTHING)

Slide3

For once, I am not spotlighting the book I am currently reading. Instead, I am going to be spotlighting a book series which I bought, which I plan to read soon, and which I am crying over because it is so darn pretty… Can you guess what it is? If you’ve seen my Instagram lately, you should know!

It’s the Harry Potter series! Isn’t it beautiful?!

Slide5

Ooooh, guess what? I ACTUALLY have a spotlighted app today! After seeing a survey on Facebook asking how bloggers keep up with other blogs and their blog posts, I finally decided to check out the Bloglovin’ app and my goodness! It’s AMAZING for keeping track of blogs, especially non-Wordpress blogs. One of my goals is to find more blogs outside of WordPress, and now with Bloglovin’, I will never have a problem keeping up with them!

Slide6

If you’ve never heard of Thomston, you must check him out IMMEDIATELY. If you have Spotify, the best way to check him out would be through that. Currently, I am obsessed with listening to his newest song, brain-dead. It’s atmospheric, electronic and I just love the vibes coming off this song.

Slide7

When you’re a kid, you colour with reckless abandon. You colour outside the lines. You colour however you feel.

Blue elephants, purple trees, red bears, green oceans – it’s all good.

As you get older, though, everyone tells you to stay inside the lines, to colour everything just like you see it. You end up painting by numbers –

whether you actually paint or whether you write or sing or dance or act or direct.

I think you should create what you feel. Create outside the lines.

I want to watch green oceans and red bears. I’d love to listen to purple trees. And I long to read blue elephants.

This quote is one I saw on Tumblr. I am forever quoting from Tumblr because there is so many deep quotes I find on a daily basis! This particular quote, I think, is one that as an artist, I will stand by regularly. But it speaks so clear and true, am I right? Or am I the only one feeling something from this right now?

That is it for this week’s Spotlight Saturday! I hope you enjoyed and stuck around to the end. It’s the last Saturday of the year and then next year, we’ll be starting fresh, in 2016! Woo hoo!

What were YOUR spotlights this Saturday?

  15. Aw, Josie! Thanks for the kind words and positive vibes.

You’d be right in saying that the commenting has dwindled (more so on my side than it is yours–seriously a 2016 resolution is to cut down on the number of people I follow…seeing like 50~100 new posts a day is the most daunting thing ever) but I think we’ve gotten to the point where life simply resumes even if we haven’t spoken in a few weeks (this may be overly optimistic of me though).

I wish for all the best in 2016 for you, Jose (ack, don’t read this like José/ho-say LOL). You’ve come a long way in both blogging and writing! Not sure if you’re still writing that book about a character that was aptly named “The Sorcerer” (or maybe I’m just imagining a character named that…well, he was a wizard-y fella) but in the path forward, through adversity or otherwise, you’ve always remained positive. And to that I’ll drink to.

2016 resolution: find another blogger from Perth you can chill with.

    Cheers mate,
    Joey via. thoughts and afterthoughts.

    1. You’re more than welcome!
Oh yes, I struggle now with that also. I follow so many people that blog hopping takes me so long now.
Haha! Lots of people call me ‘Jose’ so I don’t read it has José anymore! I’ve sadly stopped/ put a pause of the novel containing the Sorcerer, however I’m starting a new one with an assassin and an elf which I plan to work on for the entirety of 2016!
Yes, let’s drink to positivity through all trials!
Oh indeed, that will probably be my biggest resolution next year!
