Spotlight Saturday #12 | Weekly Feature

Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner [aka, moi], dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.

Hello bookworms and welcome back! So I made a slight disappearance from the blogosphere this weekend, but here I am, on this lovely Sunday afternoon to bring you my Spotlight Saturday post (don’t judge me okay, I wanted to share this with you, even if it is slightly belated).Β

Slide1

ForΒ this week’s blogger spotlight, I want to feature a blogger whose photography of books is so on point that it leaves me in a pile of fangirling, but also misery because I wish I could take such pretty photos of my books, when in fact I cannot.Β

This blogger isΒ Stacey @ prettybooks. *drools over amazing, pretty photography*. You must all check out her blog now, by clicking on her blog title, because… PRETTY BOOKS GALORE.

Slide2

Once again, I have a slew of posts to share with you today, to spruce up your lazy Sunday afternoon.Β

Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books shared howΒ NaNoWriMo has officially eaten her brain and shares some of her novel snippets, which by the way, ARE FLIPPING AMAZING.Β

Always Opinionated Girl shared a post onΒ Mental Health Education, which is eye-opening and resonates so well with my opinions of mental health. It’s a must read for us all!Β

Aila @ One Way Or An Author shared the introduction to her “Holiday Graphics” feature, which I am positively ecstatic about! Who doesn’t want to know how to create pretty graphics? And I heard there’s gifts involved…

Alicia @ The Cyborg Knight shares herΒ Christmas Gift Guide for a Posh ReaderΒ which had me fangirling with all the pretty gift ideas! (hint hint, give me these for Christmas people!)

Slide3

I just started readingΒ Ignite Me by Tahereh MafiΒ and not only is this a huge case of cover love, but already this book is flipping amazing. So much Warner and I haven’t even got through 20% of it yet!Β Warner is bae.Β And I ship Warnette so hard!Β

Slide4

Let’s talk about yesterday. The day that I was supposed to be putting up this post, instead I was working and then spending my evening at aΒ Filipino 18th birthday party for my best friend! Now you see, I have a good reason for putting this post up a day late! #dontjudge

Filipinos definitely know how to throw an 18th birthday party! My best friend is turning 18 this Tuesday, and in honor of that, we had a birthday party for her at our church. It wasΒ islandΒ themedΒ and everyone had to wear something flowery. TheΒ food was AMAZING because, I mean… food is like the center of Filipino life, or so I’ve heard. But yes! It was such a fun time!

Slide5

App, website, what’s the difference? I am going to be spotlighting a beautiful online shop calledΒ PRONE TO WANDER. They sell beautiful hand-crafted phone-case designs, mainly with bible verses and Christian quotes! If you didn’t know, I am a Christian. And seeing all these beautiful phone covers, coupled with the beautiful quotes and verses makes me want to spend $100+ there. (But if I do that I’d end up poor and without any money to buy books… a bookworm’s worst nightmare)

Slide6

I absolutely adore the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack. But most of all, I adore the songΒ Earned ItΒ by The Weeknd. Oh everything about that song gives me goosebumps. Let’s forget the context behind the song, and the fact that it’s related at all to Fifty Shades of Grey, and just focus on the beauty of that song, okay?

But I am spotlighting a cover of this song, byΒ Cameron Bedell. It’s a beautiful acoustic version, sung by a duet of Cameron and Megan Davies and my goodness, can they sing! Most especially Cameron. His voice is flawless!Β You all need to find him on Youtube now and listen to his cover of this song. DO IT NOW.Β

Another beautiful song and fairly new discovery of mine isΒ What a Good Woman DoesΒ byΒ Joy Williams. Joy has a beautiful voice and an amazing vocal range and I’m honestly in awe of her. This song is not only beautiful, but her voice. AGH HER VOICE.Β

Slide7

This is a quote I found on Tumblr. If you know me, you know that Tumblr is my spirit animal. It calms me down and I could honestly spend all day scrolling through and reblogging things. TUMBLR, WHAT WOULD I DO WITHOUT YOU?!Β

Maybe sometimes, we are the ones breaking our own hearts. We walk into a situation, get attached to someone all by choice. And then we break our own hearts, because we’re the ones who gave them the opportunity to.

Tumblr is so deep. I could create a novel just by getting inspiration from Tumblr posts! This quote is a little dark and sad, but I like to think of it is a speculative way, thinking about we as human beings. I’m going to stop now before I dive a little too deep for all of you (’cause who wants that?)

And there we have it! This week’s Spotlight Saturday, done and dusted! I hope you all enjoyed it, even though it’s almost the end of Sunday and Monday is almost starting (oops).Β

What are your spotlights this week?

  2. I love this feature πŸ™‚ I’ll check out some of your songs. I need some music to write to this afternoon.

Totally with you on tumblr. I use it to indulge my shameful (by which I mean awesome) vampire TV obsession.

Omg, that birthday party sounds like tons of fun! And did you mention FOOD? Oh glorious food – I am totally jealous right now.
Meep, that quote can apply to so many situations, it's kind of scary. I guess it's also a good reminder to step out of something that you think can cause harm to yourself, both physical or mental. Anyhow, thanks again for sharing all these awesome links I can't wait to explore!

  5. What a big, juicy post. You may have been gone but you came back strong. πŸ™‚ I especially enjoyed all the blog recommendations. You’re not kidding about pretty books–her photos are lovely. I wish I had that talent, too, but I guess I’m missing the photographer gene.

IGNITE ME IS THE BOOK. I’m so glad to hear you’re loving it so far, I couldn’t stop reading it, and there’s just so much of Warner in it, it’s just amazing. I love Warner so much, you’re not the only one shipping Warnette ! πŸ˜€
I love that you did a birthday party island themed, it sounds like you had so much fun! And wearing something flowery definitely looks cute. It makes me think about summer -and it’s winter over here, I could use some sunshine, haha πŸ™‚
Oh, Tumblr, you’re so right about this, it’s such a huge source of inspiration for me, too. I would spend days on it reading quotes and crying over how beautiful it is, if I could, ahha. πŸ™‚
I’m loving those spotlight posts, Josie! I really hope I can fit one in my blogging schedule soon sometimes, hopefully when I’m on holidays πŸ˜€

I’m waking up early tomorrow just so that I can read for maybe 5 hours straight before I do anything else I need to do in my life tomorrow, hehe! It’s so good! And Warner, oh gosh I don’t know how much more I can handle of that boy, I’m melting into a puddle of love and fangirling.

Oh yes it was such a cute theme! And such a fun one too! Oh true, it’s summer here in Australia, but I’m wishing it was winter! Maybe we can swap… πŸ˜‰
