The Sunshine Blogger Award | Blog Award

Hello bookworms and welcome back! On this fine Sunday night, while I fret and stress about my upcoming exam tomorrow morning, I decided, “hey, why not answer a couple of questions from some of my favourite blogger friends?”.
So hi, hey, hello! I am here answering 11 questions from both Becca @ Becca and Books and Ashley @ Socially Awkward Bookworm! Please check out their lovely blogs by clicking their blog names, give them the love they deserve!

Becca’s Questions

What book do you recommend to the non-readers?

When recommending books to those who are non-readers, in my attempt to convert them into a fellow book lover, it takes some analysis of the likes and dislikes of the certain person. What genre is their favourite is the biggest question here.

For fantasy lovers: Throne of Glass, Eragon or The Hobbit

For romance lovers: The Fault in Our Stars, Eleanor & Park

For contemporary lovers: Fangirl, Jasper Jones, A Monster Calls

For sci-fi/dystopian lovers: The Knife of Never Letting Go

Favorite ethnic food?

It’s a tough choice between Asian food and English food. What a coincidence that those are my two nationalities! I adore my Asian cuisine with all my heart. I love rice, curry, fried rice, etc. However, English people have TEA. And SCONES. Oh my… scones… Yum.

Describe your dream reading room/nook/place

Oh my gosh, how can I explain it? A cozy little room, covered from head to toe with bookshelves full of books, the comfiest chair in existence in one small corner beside a window where the light will softly kiss the pages of the book I’m reading, a small table beside me with a beautiful smelling candle and a cup with tea that never runs out and NEVER gets cold. BOOM.

How many books do you have?

I think the last time I counted, I had almost over 100 as physical copies? That may have increased as of now. Okay, yes it HAS increased, lets be serious.

You can only keep 3 of the books you own. Which do you choose?

You cannot be serious right now, are you trying to break my heart?! No no no. Um, um, TOO MUCH PRESSURE, SKIP.

What would the Sorting hat choose for you?

Is this a Harry Potter reference?! I haven’t read the Harry Potter series, ah don’t kill me okay. I kind of have a strange feeling I’d be a Hufflepuff? I feel too weird talking about it right now.

What’s the best beverage and snack to drink and eat while reading.

Obviously tea, come on. My ultimate snack? I don’t tend to eat when I am reading!

Hobbies beside blogging and reading?

love to write and am in the process of writing a novel! I also love to sing, but that hobby is slowly fading away.

Attach your favorite bookish decor item.

There are too many pretty bookish decor items to choose from!

If you could have a bookish superpower, what would you want it to be?

To be able to jump in and out of any bookish world I am reading about at my own will! The would be flipping awesome.

What’s your 2015 Reading Challenge and how much of it have you completed?

My goal this year is to read 50 books! I’m more than halfway through, if I remember correctly.

Ashley’s Questions

What book would you like to see turned into a movie?

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas, obviously. BUT it needs to be executed perfectly. I don’t even care if it ends up being 5 hours, just give me a perfect Throne of Glass movie!

If you were to choose one book boyfriend/girlfriend, who would you choose?

As of right now, I want Aedion. I need a handsome, witty, snarky and bold Fae warrior in my life. Aedion is mine! *melts into a puddle of feels*

What is your favorite ice cream toppings?

I love to crumble Flake chocolate on top of my ice-cream! It’s delicious and chocolate!

What are you currently reading?

Currently I’m reading Shattered Blue by Lauren Horowitz! It’s getting exciting now, and I ADORE Judah! He is the highlight of the book for me right now.

What do you like to do when you’re not reading?

I mentioned this in the last set of questions, but why not say it again? I love to write and to sing!

What was the best book that you read so far this year?

The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas, for sure. Queen of Shadows literally destroyed me and my soul with it’s amazingness.

I am always looking for a new TV show to watch, so what is a favorite of yours?

Gossip Girl! OOOH BUT DOCTOR WHO OUTWEIGHS ALL SHOWS.

Also, what is your favorite movie?

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is my favourite three movies of all time. Ever and forever.

What is a book everyone loves except you?

I’m a book lover. I do not dislike books (okay, not true, but… let’s not talk about that)

Dinosaurs or Sharks? This is a super important question.

Oh yes, I can feel the weight of this question. It’s seriously life or death! Give me some time, this is gonna take some pondering! … *ten years later* … DINOSAURS! Sharks are scary and I hate the ocean and it’s immense and vast depth! It makes my heart pound with fear.

What makes you the happiest, other than books of course?

Doing kind things for others randomly makes me immensely happy. Also just being with my friends and people who love me makes me so happy and listening to music is a big joy. And writing. Can’t forget that one!

Well, that is all for this post! I hope you enjoyed my answers and learned a bit more about me. I’ll see you on Tuesday with a brand new, bookish post!

High five on the mutual Lord of The Rings love, girlfriend! You totally have to go to NZ and visit the Hobbiton set one day! I also appreciate all of your fangirling over Throne of Glass and Patrick Ness in this post, proof that you have fine taste haha!

  4. I have Shattered Blue on my kindle but I kinda stopped reading it?? Idk it was a bit slow for me and I couldn’t feel the Fae vibe :O

    1. I know, I’m almost 70% through and only now do I feel the pacing. The only upside right now is Judah. I love Judah right now!
When did you stop reading it? The Fae aspect comes in quite late.

  6. hufflepuff might just be the best house of all, so if you end up there, be happy about it! 😀 (I’m Ravenclaw 😉 you’ll get all of this when you eventually read the books – but you shouldn’t feel obliged to do that)

Good luck with your Exam today, Josie! 😉

    1. Oh, well If I do end up in Hufflepuff I’ll definitely be happy about it, hehe. Ravenclaw sounds like the cool kids club of all the Harry Potter houses! (I don’t know why it does but)
Thank you Raven! My exam ended up going quite well. 🙂

    1. Maybe I should stop mentioning it… 😉 But I will be reading it in December so your soul won’t be breaking for much longer! 😀

I just hope that it gets carried over to the EU. That’s the problem with TV shows- they don’t air internationally, like films do…

  9. DINOSAURS OR SHARKS!!! LOL! I wouldn’t pick either of them. I haven’t read the HP series too but someday I will definitely read it. Throne of glass movie adaption? That would be totally awesome. Great Answers BTW! 😀

    1. Yeah, it’s definitely a tough question right? 😉
Hopefully we both read it soon! I’m planning to read it in December, maybe if you’d like you can read the series along with me!
I’m so happy that Throne of Glass is being optioned for a TV series though! ✊😄

      Thank you Raven!

  11. AH! Scones! ^.^ Yum… :p Though, I prefer coffee and a biscotti! However, nighttime reading definitely requires some tea because while I can drink coffee right before bed, there’s just a feeling that comes from tea and reading at night. (Or maybe some hot cocoa. :p)

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I must say, I do love my coffee! 😄 I love a good latte or a flat white!
I love drinking hot chocolate when I read at night, it really helps me get to sleep!
Thank you for stopping by Melanie 💗

      1. a type of coffee made with espresso and hot steamed milk, but without the froth that cappuccinos or lattes have.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. What! There’s such a thing? Goodness I must not be going to the right coffee shops. Though my lattes hardly ever have any foam. So maybe they’re kind of like this flat white. ^.^

  12. YOU HAVEN’T READ THE HARRY POTTER SERIES!!!!! EXCUSE ME JOSIE????????!!!!! Girl, you had better sit down and read those books or I will avada-kedavra you. Harry Potter reference. Anyways, if you like food, go ahead, because you are a kind, loving Hufflepuff at heart. #noshame One of my best friends is a Hufflepuff and I adore her (I’m talking about another bestie Hufflepuff BESIDES you, because you are a bestie too). I’m a Gryffindor, and when I do something mischievous this is what I say to my friends: (it’s the gryffindor motto)

I AM A GRYFFINDOR, WHERE DWELL THE BRAVE AT HEART

makes sense. After all, I am courageous, strong, smart, witty, funny, and a great role model. (well aren’t I? 😛 )

    🙂 🙂 🙂

    1. Ahhhh I know! I’ll be reading it in December don’t worry! 😄
Aw! That’s so cute! Okay I need to become part of the Harry Potter fandom soon!
Oh yes indeed you are Veda! You’re a Gryffindor! 😆

  13. You should totally take advantage of the fact that you haven’t read Harry Potter and buy the beautiful illustrated version! It’s like $15-20 off at Dymocks right now! But of course, you have to wait a whole year before the illustrated second book is released… I’m a Hufflepuff!!! People always make fun of Hufflepuff but what they don’t know is that the entrance to our common room is right outside the kitchen 😉 You should totally go on Pottermore and get yourself sorted into a house. It’ll make you so excited that you’ll HAVE to pick up the books 😀

Good luck with your exam tomorrow! I hope it’s not that dreaded integrated science one… eep! I’m sure you’ll do great anyway. Freedom is close!!!!

    1. Oooh yes I must purchase the illustrated version! I saw a little sneak peek the other day and it looked so good!
I’m planning to read the entire series in December though! And yes I will definitely get myself sorted into a house. Ooh Hufflepuffs have got it lucky with the proximity to the kitchen 😉

Thank you! It’s actually my English exam thank goodness! English is my favourite class (next to History).
And FREEDOM. AH SO CLOSE 😍
