Spotlight Saturday #4
Hello bookworms! Let’s pretend that I am NOT a day late for my own weekly feature, okay? Once again, I present to you Spotlight Saturday, a weekly feature that I recently created! Here’s the gist of it:
Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner [aka, moi], dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.
This feature is open to anyone and everyone, so feel free to join in with me! If you do join me, please link back to this or any of my other Spotlight Saturday posts (preferably the most recent!). AND feel free to steal my little graphics if you’re not great at creating your own.
I am a blogger. Obviously. And what comes along with being a blogger is interacting with other bloggers. It’s probably the best part about blogging – finding new friends who have such similar likes and dislikes and share central loves, in my case, the love for books!
There is one very special blogger who has been on my mind for a while, a lovely lady who I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with on Twitter and reading along Heir of Fire together. This lady is the one and only Anjie @ Love Thy Shelf! She is such a genuinely amazing person! Not only is she the best to chat with, she runs an AMAZING BLOG. She recently re-vamped her blog design – which looks simply amazeballs – and she writes such wonderful quality stuff!
I suggest you all head over to her blog RIGHT NOW and follow her! Do it! Now!
I am a big organisation girl. I have my own home made planner sitting next to me right now which is filled, in an explosion of colour, with goals, tasks, important reminders… The whole lot! And so when I saw Bella’s post: Do Tell / Peek Into My Planner I squealed like the crazy organisation girl I am.
Bella gives us a lovely insight into her planner, how she organizes herself and the methods she uses to differentiate different tasks. The best thing about this post? She gives us real-life pictures of her planner! And I LOVE IT! I love being nosy and looking at what people write and how peopled decorate things like their planners. I stared for ages at Bella’s post and the pictures!
If you are interested in planners, or organisation, check out this post and all of Bella’s other lovely posts!
This week I finished my re-read of Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas. It was even more incredible reading it the second time around than the first, I assure you! I cried twice as much and usually during scenes I didn’t cry in the first time I read the book. This definitely deserves a spotlight this week. I could say Queen of Shadows, but I only just started that yesterday so, I don’t have enough to say about it!

There were so many moments this week that were fantastic! I can’t just list one! So I will list briefly the great things that happened this month.
I recently, this week, recovered from the horrible breakdown that had forced me to go on a hiatus the weeks before. And to add onto that, I came back to my blog to find I had surpassed 400 followers! Best feeling in the world, I tell you. Once again, thank you all of your beautiful people.
Next up! Something great happened at school… I was nominated to be the valedictorian! So that means at the end of the year, when I graduate, I will present a speech on behalf of our entire year group! It is such an honour, and I am constantly feeling so humbled by my school who show me so much kindness and support and confidence in my success.
If you are a fan of listening to music and if you loathe downloading your favourite songs and getting to the point where your phone runs out of memory, I have a solution for you! My all time favourite app to listen to music is Spotify! It’s flipping fantastic. You can listen to full length songs and albums for FREE! (Sadly, Taylor Swift took all her music off Spotify, *sob*).
I adore Spotify, because it’s totally free and there is no need to download and take up phone memory. And of course, if you want to play songs for when you don’t have data or internet access, you are able to make them “available offline”! So awesome guys, you must check it out if you haven’t already.
HAVE ANY OF YOU HEARD OF A LOVELY SINGER NAMED HALSEY?! Okay, if you haven’t search her up, and search up her new album, Badlands. I’m obsessed and in fact, as I am writing this post, her songs are playing in the background! Halsey’s new album is perfection. It’s so deep, in the sound and the lyrics.
Halsey has a voice that sounds like a hybrid between a majority of popular artists, including Shakira and Taylor Swift. In her song Colors she sounds distinctly like Taylor Swift in the chorus, I had to take a double take! I adore every single one of her songs in the album but if I had to pick, my favourites would be:
- Colors
- Gasoline
- Haunting
- Drive
- Castle
Okay, so that’s almost the entire album, but that just reflects how much I am obsessed with Halsey right now.
Go and check out her album immediately!
This quote is going to come from my spotlighted book, Heir of Fire! There were so many worthy quotes within the book, but this one just puts me in a puddle of fangirling madness.
He looked at his friend, perhaps for the last time, and said what he had always known, from the moment they’d met when he’d understood that the prince was his brother in soul. “I love you”.
THAT BROMANCE THOUGH. CHAOL AND DORIAN, YOU GUYS ARE SO CUTE. *cries*
Tell me your fabulous thoughts, bookworms!
