Top Ten Favourite Non-Bookish Things – Yes, I Do Love Non-Bookish Things!

Greetings bookworms! Despite my claim that I was going on a hiatus, I am here today for Top Ten Tuesday! I am honestly not sure if I will stay on my hiatus for much longer, but you’ll see in a few days.
Back to business! This week The Broke and the Bookish have given us a freebie, meaning we are free to discuss any topic we’d like! Honestly, I’m horrible when it comes to thinking of my own topic. But look! I came up with one! Yay, me.

Believe it or not, I do have a life that extends out of bookish related things… Yes! I really do! And what comes with a non-bookish life, comes non-bookish favourites. So here are my top ten NON-bookish related things

1. Music

I’ve adored music ever since I started high school. Now, that might seem strange that I only started listening to music when I started high school but it’s true! I didn’t even know about music or care about music before then but the moment I started high school, I quickly became obsessed with it! Now I am constantly listening to music. In fact, as I am writing this post I am listening to music. I am listening to the album Badlands by Halsey

2. Writing

I’m the weird kid at school that smiles when the teacher announces we’re doing a test where we have to write an essay. I love writing. It’s always been a part of me which I really found out this year. It was one of the reasons I decided to start a blog. And I intend to continue my dream to write through to university! Thanks to my school and my English and History classes (which I have done millions of essays for this year), I’ve had the change to hone my skills and delve deeper into the thing I love most!

3. Singing

Surprise! I sing! I have been singing for four years now which, through the specialist music program at my school, I have been able to professionally use this talent of mine to perform in many events around my area. It’s been such a fun experience and over my years in high school, it’s been one of the biggest relaxation hobbies I’ve had the pleasure of pursuing.

4. Graphic Design

Now, let me just point out that I am definitely not a graphic designer. I am quite far off to be honest. But I could spend my days scrolling through beautiful images and such created by amazing graphic designers! In fact, it came in close to being the course I chose for university. (But obviously my love for writing overpowered this).

5. Interior Design

Gosh darn, interior design is my weakness. I spend hours scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram and Tumblr, simply marvelling at the beautiful pictures of rooms inside houses. From kitchens, to bedrooms, to bathrooms! I adore it. It’s probably one of the reasons I want to move out of home so badly – because the thought of buying and designing my own home makes my heart pound with excitement!

6. Scones & Tea

I looooooooove scones! And I love tea. This is where my British heritage shows itself. Every day I estimate that I have at least three cups of tea a day. I love going out to places to drink tea. One of my favourite places outside of home to drink tea is at Dome because the way they serve tea is just SO ADORABLE! The first time I ever had tea there, I almost flailed and fangirl-ed right there in my seat.

7. Travelling

Granted, I haven’t done much proper travelling, but my wanderlust is at an all-time high! I’m currently saving up money specifically for the future when I decide to travel the world! I want to go EVERYWHERE. I want to go all over the world and most specifically, visit all the great cities. And when I do go travelling, I want to meet all of you bloggers!

8. Cats

I am a crazy cat lady. My Instagram feed is flooded with cat pictures and I nearly end up in a puddle of tears every time I look through images of cats! THEYRE SO CUTE AND SO FLUFFY, I CAN’T HANDLE IT! My own cat makes me want to cry when he greets me in the morning in his full fluffy glory!

9. Food

Specifically Asian food. (Here comes my Asian heritage!) Asian food is what I live for. Especially sea food fried rice. *drools*

10. Sleep

Who doesn’t love sleep?

That is all for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed my choices and the topic that I chose!

What are your favourite things which are non-bookish related?

  1. Cool list. Nice mix. I can’t sing at all. Never let me go anywhere near karaoke! Do you have a favourite period of history for writing about?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Karaoke! I so want to go to a karaoke bar. I’d own that microphone! Haha.
I don’t write about periods of time in history, except if it’s writing essays for my history class but I have a huge interest in WW2. But then again, there was not much choice for variety of historical periods to study in my school.

  2. Whoops, excuse my over-use of emojis… I think I may have used too many than what’s healthy. XD

    1. Haha!! No I think I use more than you 😉 So I totally accept it!! Emojis galore!

  3. Josie. Will you never stop to blow me away?? I swear, I don’t think these awesome posts are healthy. Just a thought. 😛

And singing!! Oh my gosh, I’m so jealous. I’ve always wanted to sign for singing lessons or something, but never really got around to it. :/ I love to sing, even though I’m not really a good one… XD

I also really love to write! It’s one of the reasons I love blogging so much, since I’m combining both my love of books and writing into one. 🙂 I’ve been trying to broach outside the barrier of essays and blog writing to write an actual novel, but I always end up abandoning it because I feel like it’s not good enough to continue. A pretty bad habit of mine. 😦 Have any tips? 😉

Haha although you claim not to be a graphics designer, I assure you, your graphics say otherwise! They’re always so fun and pretty. 🙂

I’m actually so jealous that you’re both Asian and British! Especially ’cause your accent!! ❤ Asian food is awesome, I agree, by the way.

    Love this post!! ❤

    1. Analee oh my gosh! You are such a sweetheart and you’re honestly making my night so much better right now! 😄
Yeah, singing is really fun! And writing is just incredible, of course. Definitely I totally agree with that! Blogging is like doing those two things at once!

I know how you feel! I’m still trying to get up and running with my current novel idea. It’s hard!! Sadly I am on the same boat as you. But I’d say a good place to start is write down every single little idea that pops into your head. And if you’re writing a novel already, pace yourself with the same amount everyday so you don’t burnout! 😊

Oh yay! I’m glad my graphics are that deceptive 😉
      Hehe, aw thank you 😆😆

I love music too!! Well. I love playing it more than listening (that is weird. xD) and zomg WRITING IS TOTALLY LIFE. ❤ I was that weird kid too who like freaked out with happiness at bookish and writing assignments. :')
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!

    1. Do you play a certain instrument? 😄 I love playing piano, although I’m self taught so I am not very good at it.
YES WRITING IS LIFE. 😆 I really need to get more rigorously into writing again, hopefully after my exams.
Thank you for stopping by Cait! 💕

  5. 1, 2, 4, 7, 9 and 10 matches COMPLETELY with me! Everyone would give me the “look” when they’d see how excited I’d get during English class. I would love to read some of your writings, Josie! Do you post them online?

    1. Wow we have a lot in common then! 😊
Haha! Yep that’s how my classmates got with me when my teacher announced we were doing an essay. They knew! 😂
Oh thank you! I post them of Wattpad! I haven’t completed the story currently on there and I’m not sure if I will but I made quite a bit of progress on it. If you’d like the link, send me an email through my about page! 💕

      1. Will do! I post on Wattpad (cause they provide third party copyright protection) but I am not that active there just yet. 😕 Also I prefer the crowd at TeenInk better.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. I haven’t been very active lately either! I need to get back into writing. Yes, send me an email with your link to your Wattpad and I’ll send you my link!
I’ve never heard of TeenInk! But because many Wattpad authors seem to get their book published, I feel like it would be the best opportunity potentially.
        xoxo 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Both has its pros and cons. The only problem I have with Wattpad is that there are no “approval system” so a lot of stories that are…ahem, I am going to sound so mean when I say this…well, actually crappy and horribly written (think a million tropes, spelling errors, incorrect grammar and mindless plots) get famous there too, and often shoves the well written stories out of the limelight. But its really interactive and has the bonus of copyright protection. TeenInk on the otherhand has really good, quality writings because the editors approve your work before posting them online, and if they really like it, they’ll publish it in their print magazine. But its not as interactive as Wattpad and they don’t provide protection so anyone can steal your work. 😳

YESSS Sleep is obviously THE BEST haha. I want to hear you sing, Josie! I love singing as well, though it’s mainly restricted to karaoke when I am a total mic-hogger. Scones and tea and seafood fried rice? YUM we totally need to have a lunch date at some point 😉

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Aw thank you! Yes, my school prides itself in it’s professional music program. We don’t just do professional singing, but we do music production too, such as learning how to make a professional, radio quality song! It made me want to become a music producer for a short amount of time.

  19. I love this!! I may have to steal your idea. 🙂

I absolutely love that you sing. I used to sing in high school, in competitions, and loved it. I still love to sing, but I’m way out of practice. That’s so awesome!

CATS. I’m a crazy cat lady, too. I have 2 cats. They are my babies. Please post a picture of your cat sometime!

I’ve never been much of a tea drinker, but I keep hearing that green tea is good for you, especially for weight loss and being healthier. I need to try it.

This was great, getting to know more about you. 😉

I need more cats! I will definitely post a picture. Maybe in my Spotlight Saturday post! Just to give you a mental image, his name is Lucky and he is the most adorable, chubby, extremely fluffy grey cat ever!

I have had a hard time keeping up with green tea! It’s a little bitter but I know it is really good for you.
Thank you! I’m glad you know me a little better now! 😀

  20. Awesome list Josie! Lol I love how you’re not really away during hiatus 😉 I didn’t do TTT this week because I couldn’t come up with one haha. You’re Asian and British?! That’s cool! It’s great that you sing 😀
Hahaha! That’s why I want to move out, too. Interior Design is so much fun. I always watch HGTV and the home improvement shows. I took an interior design class and it was a lot of fun. I’d love to travel everywhere! First place I’d visit is Greece because Percy Jackson hahah.
I love eating, too! There are so many delicious foods and cuisines out there. My favorite is either Filipino or Mexican or Japanese! Sleep would also be on my list :p who doesn’t love sleeping?!
On my list, I’d also put learning (lol). It’s weird but I like reading textbooks, especially with subjects I’m interested in. Like for work, I tutor 2 classes that I didn’t take so read the textbook and it’s fun lol. I also like learning languages — I never fully learn but I still like it. I’ve taken Spanish, French, and Italian. I also tried teaching myself German (it was terrible lol). I also speak Tagalog (Filipino language). I also like graphic design! You’re amazing at it btw! I like anything artsy — painting, coloring, drawing. I love making cards! And scrapbooking 😀 and playing tennis (I suck but it’s fun lol). Ooh such a fun topic!

    1. I know right? I suck at this hiatus stuff. 😉
It’s a unique combination right?! Many people point that out.
I have such an urge to move out, but the only thing that is keeping me is the fact that I don’t know how long I can provide for myself yet (I’m not even eighteen yet!)
Yes I’d love to visit Greece! Not to mention, one of my lovely blogger friends, Lia lives there!
Two of my best friends are Filipino and I love going to their house and eating the food their parents cook. It’s divine. I love sushi!

I totally agree with you on learning. I’ve always loved it since I first started high school. I yearn to learn (hehe). I love taking notes.
Tutoring sounds so cool! My school counsellor asked me to tutor her daughter next year for school after I graduate this year, which is so cool and I’m pretty excited!

I really want to learn as many languages as possible! And yes, I’ve heard Tagalog, thanks to my lovely best friends.
And thank you! That means a lot, I do really enjoy graphic design.
I wish I could draw and paint, but alas, I kind of fail at it.
Hehe! You’re flowing with ideas Anjie! I think you need to do this topic! 😀

That’s so awesome! Aside from family, I don’t have any Filipino friends haha its pretty bad.
Yay! Nerd power haha. That’s cool! Are you tutoring her on a specific subject?
I’m not that good at drawing or painting but I’ve gotten better lol.

  25. Wow, that’s so cool you can sing! I wish I can sing. I mean, I can sing well enough that I could pass my aural exams back when I played violin, but I wish I could like, REALLY SING.

For me, my non-bookish things are fitness and volunteering. c: I do some form of exercise 5/7 days a week. I started exercising when I was going through some really hard times, and since exercising regularly, it has helped keep my negative moods and sad bouts at bay. And I’ve been volunteering at a certain place for 5 years now – I enjoy it, even though it’s a very difficult and challenging position. I’ve learned a lot from volunteering too – things you would not otherwise learn at work or school! 🙂

Yes!! I do weight-lifting and cycling/running (depends on the weather). Honestly, exercise changed my life. I had the most awful self-esteem before, but after doing it and persevering, it gave me a lot of self-confidence. Exercise taught me to be patient with myself and how to listen to my body. And it’s really, really cool when you notice that you’re getting better and stronger! :’D I’d totally support you if you wanted to exercise more. It’s good for clearing your head too. I never feel angry after a run!
