Fictional Cities That I Adore | Top 5 Wednesday

Hello bookworms and welcome back to Josie’s Book Corner! Today is Wednesday, and that means another instalment of Top Five Wednesday!
This is one of my favourite weekly memes hosted by Lainey @ gingereadslainey over on YouTube! You can click here to go to the Top 5 Wednesday Goodreads page!
This week, I am very excited for the topic which is: Top Five Fictional Cities! Let’s jump right into it, shall we?

I am a huge fan of cities. My wanderlust has given me the inspiration and motivation to travel the world to see all the magnificent cities in the world!
I am also an enthusiastic reader of the fantasy genre so I have encountered MANY fictional cities, many which I have come to wish were real places that I would totally live in, given the opportunity.

1. Rivendell (Lord of the Rings)

Can you imagine?! Have you seen the beauty of this spectacular Elven city? There are so many cities within the realm of Middle Earth I could pick but out of all of them, Rivendell is at the top of the list. If it were real, I’d find my refuge there forever. 😍

2. Orynth (Throne of Glass)

At the heart of Terrasen, the birth place if Celaena, the city of Orynth lies. Is there any other reason I have to make for wanting this city to be real other than the fact that Celaena was born there? And once again, the fact that the land is filled (or was) filled with the Fae, is another reason I want this city to be real. With the merriment of the Far, who wouldn’t want such an abundant, beautiful city to exist?

3. Hobbiton (Lord of the Rings)

26 Fictional Places You Wish You Could Live

I’m sorry for adding another Lord of the Rings city, but… come on, LOOK AT THIS PLACE! And I suppose I can say that this place ACTUALLY EXISTS. And I am going to visit it one day, I promise you! But I wish it existed in all it’s beauty and glory from the Lord of the Ring’s trilogy – the lovely little Hobbits that like to keep to themselves and not go on adventures, the lush green landscape… ah, just heaven.

4. Shadowhunter London, 1800s (The Infernal Devices

There is no denying I love myself a little bit of London culture, and what better than 1800s London with a little bit of the Shadowhunter world to spice it up a bit? If this city were real, I’d love to live in it. Give me some handsome Nephilim men!

5. King’s Landing (Game of Thrones)

It’s beautiful, isn’t it? I’ve only read the first book in the Song of Ice and Fire series, and I can hardly remember any of it, but you cannot deny the beauty of this city and I wish it existed, because I would love to live there.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this week’s Top 5 Wednesday, because I sure did! I’m a big fan of cities so this is why I really enjoyed this topic.

What is YOUR favourite fictional city?

  1. Awesome list! YES to Hobbiton and Rivendell. I really want to visit New Zealand (where they film) and I want to stay in the Hobbiton that they set up there! The filmmakers built the set in someone’s land I believe and they kept it and added more for visitors! I can’t wait until Aelin returns to Orynth so that we can have more descriptions of it!

    1. I want to stay in Hobbiton too! My best friend is planning to go to New Zealand and I’m so jealous! I would pay to live there. That’s so wonderful that the owners kept it like that!
I’m waiting for that moment, I need to see Orynth and it’s beauty!

Rivendell! 😀 I always wanted to be one of the Elves. Darn straight hair, lean figure, and swift movements. And also… The Infernal Devices London… just because I wanna meet Will Herondale!! 🙂

    1. Yes! If someone asked me what I wanted to be when I was little, it would be an Elf. Hands down. Woah, I just realised what I want to dress up as when I have my graduation ceremony this year! An elf! 😁

I love Rivendell! I was so sad when the Elves started to leave Middle Earth *cries* Hobbiton is so adorable, my near future plan is to visit the set in New Zealand so I can experience it for myself. I am about to start Heir of Fire so I am eager to discover the beauty of Orynth!

    1. Oh yes I was so sad at that moment too! Oh gosh I’m going to cry now!
I really want to visit it soon as well! Maybe when I earn enough money after I graduate that will be the first place I go.
I’m so excited for you to read Heir of Fire!!!! 😍
