Stacking The Shelves #7 | August Book Haul

stacking-the-shelves-BANNERMy August Book Haul!

Greetings bookworms! Welcome back to Josie’s Book Corner, on this lovely Sunday. August is almost over… where has this month gone?! But anyhow, I’m here to share with you all the books I acquired during the month. This month was a great month in terms of book buying and surprisingly, a good month for saving money too! Those two don’t really go together do they? But somehow, this month they did.

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

I read and adored Shatter Me, so of course I had to purchase the second book in the series! I’m very excited about picking this one up, so hopefully I get around to it next month.

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

I purchased the lovely hardback edition of this book and it’s beautiful. The pages are jagged as if to look like an old, forbidden book. I love the design of the book and not to mention, I love the book in general! Click here to see my review.

The Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson

I’m currently hosting a buddy read where anyone is welcome to join, with Aimal from Bookshelves and Paperbacks for the first book in the Mistborn trilogy: The Final Empire. This read along will be continuing until the 20th of September, so please, feel free to join in! Click here to go to my announcement post with all the details within

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

I just ordered this book a couple of days ago because I seriously need to binge read the Infernal Devices series. After literally devouring the first book, I knew I needed to read the next two. Since I already have Clockwork Princess, all I needed was this one to complete the series!

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

After embarrassingly buying the second book rather than the first a month or so ago, I decided it’s about time I bought the first book. I haven’t received it yet, but it’s on its way to me right now! I cannot wait to get into this series, since I hear so much about it.

1984 by George Orwell

I bought this on my Kindle, because after my teacher mentioned this book to me, and the book I’m studying for English uses this book as its intertextual reference, I thought, I should probably freshen up on this story, shouldn’t I? So I bought it on Kindle.

Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry

This was only 0.99c on Kindle so I thought… why the heck not?! I have yet to read it, but I will.

I hope you all enjoyed the books I bought this month. I don’t know if this is all of them because frankly, I haven’t been keeping track. But these are the most significant.

What books have you bought or added to your shelves this month?

  1. Yayyyay so many awesome books! XD I can’t wait ’till you read the rest of the Shatter Me and Infernal Devices series, as well as the two books in the Winner’s Curse trilogy so far (though it might be a good idea to wait for the third one to be released and then read them altogether). ❤ I'm currently reading The Final Empire, although I'm not as far into it as I would've liked, I'm really enjoying it so far! Can't wait to see what you think of it. And you know how much I love The Wrath and the Dawn, ha ha. I most definitely approve! Great haul! (And great job on saving money too, woo-hoo!)

  2. You’ve added quite a few books! I absolutely love Tahereh Mafi and The Shatter Me series. I can’t wait to hear what you think. 1984 is a book that appears as a maybe on my course outline this year. It sounds like such an interesting book. I’m really excited for Queen of Shadows! I preordered a signed copy at the last minute, so I will be avoiding spoilers for a while! 🙂

    • Yes I have! Ah yet another lover of the Shatter Me series. I’m very excited. 😄
I think it was a maybe on my course this year too, but we never read it. So I thought, I might as well try it out!
Oh gosh yes! I preordered Queen of Shadows back in May! I’ve been waiting for too long…

  3. I am way too nervous to do book hauls haha! I don’t want my partner snooping on my blog and discovering how much I spent on books last month XD

I hope you are loving Mistborn! Warbreaker is also a great Sanderson title with a good romance in it. 1984 is one of my favourite classics ever!! Also, I am sooo glad I am not the only one who gets The Winner’s trilogy books mixed up- the covers are so similar haha.

Haha, oh you get them mixed up too?! They really are so similar, in cover and also in terms of their titles as well!

You MUST read Cassandra Clare’s books! They’re fantastic. I think the Infernal Devices trilogy is a great place to start, but I adored the Mortal Instruments series.

  7. Great Haul! Nowhere But Here was quite a disappointment for me but still I hope you like it. I haven’t read The Winner Curse yet because I’m actually waiting for the final book to be published so I can binge read the trilogy. I’m so excited to read Final Empire too. 😀

  8. I love Sanderson’s books something fierce and I’m glad you guys are reading his work! You MUST read his Stormlight Archive as soon as you are able to, because that one is just phenomenal – the magic system, the characters, the depth of the story, it’s like OMFG WHAT CAN THIS MAN NOT WRITE?! He’s just amazing.
