Spotlight Saturday #3 | Weekly Feature

Spotlight Saturday #3

Hello bookworms and welcome back! It’s Saturday, and here on my blog that means my original weekly feature is due! This feature I created is called Spotlight Saturday, and I love it. Here is the gist of it:

Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner [aka, moi], dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.

I would love it if you all did this feature. If you would like to participate, feel free to do that and link back to my post so I know you’ve done it and so I can read it!

I love bloggers. So I guess you could say I love myself. They are such wonderful people and I find great joy in reading their posts day in and day out. There are just so many unique and amazing bloggers out there that I discover every day and this feature, I find, is the best way to share that love, every week by pinpointing a certain blogger (or two) who have really impressed me or warmed my heart.

This week, I want to give some love to Nicholas from Books At Dawn. I recently discovered him, and I adore his blog. He writes the most wonderful reviews and posts in general. I really love his blog because its got this unique touch. He brings quite a bit of focus to comic books, which I really like because I want to get into reading them.

Nicholas is such a great communicator as well! He comments on my posts and he replies to comments I make on his posts, and that’s one of the most major things that makes me love a blogger. Nicholas is into K-POP, which is also very cool.

I urge you all to check out his awesome blog, it is one you don’t want to miss!

I have two blog posts to spotlight this week which I really enjoyed reading this week. Of course, all the blog posts I read are absolutely wonderful, but some really do stand out to me, and these two posts stood out to me this week.

My first spotlighted blog post of coming from Becca @ Becca and Books. She wrote a hilariously relatable post called “Book Agony | Waiting for a Book Release”. She referred this too the extremely, highly awaited release of Queen of Shadows which is excitedly going to be released in two/three days! I’M SO EXCITED and it’s obvious in this post, that Becca is aswell. I love the GIF’s she uses and the progression of a person waiting for one of their favourite book series to release their next book. It’s hilarious, so don’t miss out! CHECK IT OUT NOW!

The next blog post I am spotlighting comes from Lynsey @ Read Rest Relax. She wrote a very insightful and important post called “Don’t let Facebook be the only book your child reads”. She addresses and outlines the nature of our generation and the upcoming generation as being technology-oriented and makes the point that reading book should be promoted and given more value and importance. It’s a topic that I am personally very passionate about, so I suggest you all take a quick peak at this awesome post!

Alright, so I’m currently juggling two books at the moment (look at me, trying to experiment with book polygamy!) however, one I’ve been slowly reading over the past month, to prepare myself for a certain exciting release, and the other is one I started this afternoon. The one I am spotlighting today, is the one I’ve been slowly reading, which is The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J Maas!

This is a bind-up of novellas following Celaena Sardothien before the events of the Throne of Glass series. It’s absolutely fantastic. I can’t get enough of Sarah J Maas’s writing and the world she has created. I can’t get enough of Celaena and in these novellas, we really see her personality before she was broken as she is in Throne of Glass. We get to meet SAM who I am slowly warming up to, and I do not think I’m ready for what will happen to him, nuh uh, no way!

I can’t think of any good moments for this week. OF COURSE I CAN. This week’s spotlighted moment comes from what happened last night – Friday night. The lovely TGIF. Now, I’m a bookworm. I do not go to parties. I like to stay home with food, Netflix, my cat and a book. But my Friday nights are always books for my youth group – Pulse. I am a Christian, and I serve in my church by attending the weekly youth group where we reach out to high school students, to give them a good time instead of going to those dreadful, alcohol-infested parties

This Friday was the highlight of my week. We had a Mexican-themed night, complete with an electronic bull or “bucking bull” and unlimited nachos! (Are there any Mexican bookworms out there? If so, hola!). But honestly, I have never laughed so much this week than I did last night (Friday night). It was such a wonderful thing, compared to my tough and quite bleak week.

Have any of you heard of an app called Trivia Crack? Well, that is the app I am spotlighting this week! It is so damn fun. It’s basically an app where you can verse your friends or totally random people in a game of trivia. You answer a bunch of trivia questions and try to win all the crowns in the different topics: art, sport, geography, history and entertainment. I have been having so much fun with this app for the past few days, playing again my best friend (Christine) and classmates.

It’s available on Android and Apple!

Shine by Years & Years is my spotlighted song this week. It’s wonderful. I could replay it all day long. The beat is hypnotic and very chilled, I suggest you all have listen to this song. The music video is also pretty cool as well!

  1. Hehe, oh you’re wonderful Analee! I love hearing that you think my posts are wonderful. 😉
I would LOVE to see you do this! ❤

I don't see the appeal in alcohol to be honest! It's gross and the aftermath is horrible. And yes, Friday night was absolutely fanastic! The nachos were ON POINT! 😀
Oh gosh, I still don't think I'm prepared for it to be honest… 😥
Thank you! Its a great quote. xoxo :*

  2. Wonderful feature, as always! Love it! (You’re probably getting tired of hearing that, but too bad. :P) I might think of occasionally participating as well. Maybe. For now, I’m happy to read your awesome posts though!

There really should be more non-alcoholic parties! It seems like you had an awesome time that Friday night, yayy!! 😀 And mmm nachos… I’m hungry just thinking about it.
The Assassin’s Blade is so heart-wrenching! Ahh be prepared because even though you know what’s coming, it still totally brings out the feels. 😉 And I absolutely love that quote!! It’s fantastic. ❤

  3. Aww that spotlighted moment is just so inspiring! When I scroll my feed on wp, not a single day pass when nobody posts about any Maas book! The hype is insane! I would get to that soon! 😀

    1. I’m glad you think so! 😊
I know right, the hype is through the roof! You must read them soon they’re quite fantastic. (I’m a total Fangirl for the series so I’m trying not to hype it up too much).
      xoxo 💋

  4. Thanks for the song highlight! I’m always looking to expand my music repertoire and this was perfect haha. (But can I just say that I’m still fascinated that British singers don’t sound “British” when they sing LOL — I’m going to totally draw ire for this comment.

    1. Yay, I’m very glad that you got a new song from this post.
But yes I totally understand what you mean! They sound nothing like what they sound like when they talk! But then again I can’t say anything because when I sing, I was told once that I sounded foreign, like, Irish or something. Once.

  8. OH MY GOD IF YOU’RE STILL READING THE ASSASSIN’S BLADE PREPARE YOURSELF. EVEN THOUGH YOU KNOW WHAT’S COMING IT’S STILL GOING TO RIP YOUR HEART OUT INTO A MILLION PIECES. I started crying the moment I started the last novella because I already knew what was going to happen and it was so painful 😦 I don’t think I’m ever going to be over it.
That quote is beautiful and inspiring. I must remember that one! I played Trivia Crack for a while but then got bored (I often get bored of apps quickly haha). It was fun while it lasted though! 😀 Also the party sounds like so much fun! I wish there were more non-alcohol parties here. So many people my age drink (almost all of them) and not only is it annoying that they judge me for NOT drinking, they drink way too much and I don’t like them when they’re so drunk they’re annoying and they throw up and everything- ugh. You can have fun WITHOUT alcohol! Like with an electronic bull and unlimited nachos *drools* Woah this is a rather long comment haha

    1. Oh my goodness! It is a long comment, I almost dropped my phone when I opened it, but I love long comments! (weird things that I like…)
I’m so scared for what is going to happen! Knowing me I’m going to cry for days and then when Queen of Shadows arrives I’ll be reminders of it all over again and I’ll cry. I’m so emotional!
Yes, it’s a wonderful quote! Definitely save it into your computer or something, as a reminder. 😊
Oh yeah, I got bored of it for a while too, until my friend challenged me and I got into it all over again. 😂
I really don’t understand why people judge those who don’t drink… I mean, they’re slowly killing themselves in a way, especially when they drink excessive amounts and get wasted. I’m proud when I say “I don’t drink alcohol” and “I don’t like alcohol”.
YES, an electronic bull and unlimited nachos is totally a great way to have fun. So much better than alcohol and will not leave you with a pounding headache in the morning (maybe just a few minor bruises from the bull though…)
THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOVELY COMMENT ! xoxo 💋

      1. Haha I love long comments too 😀 And long emails!
Same!! I’m worried for all my favourite characters. PLEASE DON’T DIE.
Haha I’m really emotional too. If I’m invested in a book/tv show/movie etc. I cry really easily.
Yes I’m going to save it and print it out so I can pin it on my cork board!
Exactly! I respect your choice to drink, so why won’t you respect mine not to?! There are non-alcoholic drinks out there that I like to drink, that won’t make me lose control over myself, give me a headache like you said and possibly memory loss!
Haha yeah it could give you bruises, but also a good laugh and memories!
        YOU’RE WELCOME 😀

    1. Thank you and no you’re welcome! I love your blog! 😄
I know how you feel. But honestly, the novellas in The Assassins Blade don’t even feel like novellas!

      2. Hehe, no pressure, no pressure! Even in putting it as less priority above every other book I’m reading. I just read it slowly in little bits of free time I have.
