Spotlight Saturday #2
Hello bookworms and welcome back! It’s Saturday again… This week as literally flown by! It felt like only yesterday that I posted the first post for this new weekly feature of mine! But before I go any further, I’d like to clarify to you all what this feature is all about, just in case there are some new bookworms reading this today:
Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner [aka, moi], dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.
I’ve got one very special lady blogger and bookworm who has been on my mind lately and that is Aimal @ Bookshelves and Paperbacks! If you have not yet checked out her blog, you MUST DO IT NOW!
I adore Aimal’s beautiful blog design for starters. It’s simply gorgeous! She has an overall purple theme to her blog and uses a range of beautiful pastel colours all over her blog. What I really admire is that she has this paint effect on her blog. It’s evident in her banner and in her blog posts as well. It’s obvious that she puts a ton of effort into not just the content of her blog – which is amazing – but also the aesthetics of her blog. I admire it.
Also, the most exciting thing right now is that she and I are hosting a buddy read together! I love her because as soon as she saw that we both wanted to read the same book, she asked to do a buddy read with me that soon turned into an open buddy read for all of YOU to join! [Click here to go to the blog post for the buddy read].
Aimal, you are such a wonderful blogger, definitely one of my favourites on the blogosphere. ❤
This week’s spotlighted blog post comes from the one and only Jenny @ Jenny in Neverland. She recently did a blog post called Coping with Blogger Envy which I loved so much. She discussed how being bloggers, we tend to look at other people’s blogs and compare – compare our blog designs, our content, the way we write – to other bloggers who we may think are more experienced, popular or more professional.
It was really such a great post, because it’s so undoubtedly true. We all do get a bit envious of other bloggers – however, I tend to get more googley-eyed and admire more than I envy. And I admire Jenny’s blog so much.
Thank you Jenny, for such a wonderful post that I can totally connect with, as can many other bloggers, if not all.
This is awkward… Shamefully I’ve been reading the same book for an entire week now: The Wrath and the Dawn. But fear not! I will be finishing it today and you WILL be seeing a blog post for a review of it in the very near future.
One upside to being on the same book as last week is that I get to show my progression of opinions from last week. I adore this book with all my heart. Shazi is definitely one of my favourite female protagonists along side Celaena. Definitely. The writing in this book is simply phenomenal, and with only less than 50 pages to go, I say that this book is worth all the hype.
I am officially in love with Khalid. I love him so so much. I want to kidnap him and steal him for myself! AH!
If you didn’t know, which you probably didn’t, in my personal life outside of blogging, I’ve been having a hard time. Mentally I’ve been having some problems which have actually been occurring for quite a few months, but for so long until this week, I was simply too afraid to do anything about it (out of the fear that I was just being silly, mainly).
But on Wednesday, I finally went to see my school psychologist about the issues I’ve been having and it was such a relief. She helped me out, and now I’m one step closer to coming out of what’s going on with me. School has been a key factor in the problem, as assignments and homework have put immense amount of pressures on me, so when I asked the deputy principal to have a day off-the-grid (which means, I come to school but I don’t go to classes for the day, it’s like free time), I was so grateful.
Tumblr. I love Tumblr so much, it’s such a therapeutic app for me. The act of scrolling through pretty pictures and reblogging images, I get a spur of motivation and relaxation. So whenever I’m feeling like I can’t do something, usually going on Tumblr motivates me. Which is really weird if you think about it, if you know what Tumblr is like. But that’s how it is for me!
Give Me Something by Jarryd James. Jarryd James is one of my new favourite music artists. His voice and the style of his songs are so lovely. He has this signature style of singing in his male, low voice while overlapping it with a falsetto, high harmony of his own voice. It brings such a whimsical feel to his songs. I can’t help but singing along with his songs!
This week’s quote comes from my best friend, Bam. Last night she sent me this encouraging quote as a text to me, and it really made me feel good.
“Rise and rise again until lambs become lions.” It’s so inspiring, espeically with what I’m dealing with at the moment. If you’re reading this Bam (although I highly doubt it, hehe), THANK YOU. ❤
Tell me your fabulous thoughts, bookworms!
