Hello bookworms and welcome back! Today I am brining to you all a really fun book tag which I was tagged by Joey @ thoughts and afterthoughts and Lia @ Book Land!
We all have our own personal habits when it comes to reading and this tag reveals them! So without further delay, let’s get into my reading habits. . .
1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
I have three different places where I primarily read in my house. The first being my wonderful chair that has a section that pops up so my legs can rest up on. Its potentially the most comfy chair ever, and I find myself reading there most of the time. However, if its cold in my living room, I move to my room where I usually read at my desk (weird, I know) and on my bed before I go to sleep!
2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Random pieces of paper frustrate me! So of course, bookmarks. I have been collecting Book Depository bookmarks so now I have around 10 of them on my bedside table.
3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?
I HAVE to stop only at the end of a chapter. I’m very obsessive about that. If I am forced to stop reading in the middle of a chapter for whatever reason, I will put my bookmark back at the beginning of the chapter. I just can’t handle picking it up again from the middle.
4. Do you eat or drink while reading?
All the time. I love drinking tea when I read especially so I usually make my tea as I start reading. I also get hungry when I read, so I end up having a bowl of snacks beside me while I read also.
5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?
No no no. I can’t multitask when I read. I can hardly concentrate when there are full blown conversations in the background of wherever I’m reading. I need complete silence to immerse myself in the world of the book I’m reading.
6. One book at a time or several at once?
Generally I stick to one book at a time. Reading several at one time tends to detract my attention from enjoying the full extent of the novels I read and will result in disaster when it comes to review time.
7. Reading at home or everywhere?
I will read anywhere and everywhere, it doesn’t bother me. On the way to work, at work, at school, in the bus, in the train, at the shopping centre. . . everywhere.
8. Reading out lout or silently in your head?
Okay bookworms, so I’m one of the weird ones that actually reads out loud. But not the entire book of course. But I read out loud at certain moments. Sometimes I can’t help myself and I just NEED to read a sentence in the book out loud.
And I also tend to read the dialogue between characters out loud, imitating the tones they would be using as they say whatever they say. Weird? Maybe.
9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?
Sometimes my brain likes to drift from reading one page, and before even finishing said page, move to the bottom on the next page without my consent. My brain does it randomly, and usually its hard to control. I have to force myself to concentrate! 😂
10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
It breaks my heart to see books with broken spines. The only reason I break spines is if I’ve become so completely engrossed with a book that it forces me to open it wide, totally oblivious to the damage I am wreaking. My paperback of Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas sadly was a victim of this.
11. Do you write in your books?
Who the heck writes in their books?! By this I am assuming it means fictional books not notebooks.
I don’t write in my books. No way. Instead I put tabs on the pages where important or memorable moments happen that I want to remember. I have a notebook dedicated to writing down quotes and moments in books that I love.
Tell me your fabulous thoughts, bookworms!
