Top Ten Hyped Books I Have Never Read

Hello bookworms and welcome back! It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for another installment of the beloved Top Ten Tuesday meme we love to do every week, created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish – a blog you should most definitely check out to find all the details of this meme.
This week’s topic is one that I have an exceeding list for: Hyped Books I Have Never Read. Oh man, there are so many! How am I going to choose?! I think I’m going to go with the hyped books I haven’t read, but plan to read as soon as possible.

Let’s Go!

1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

harryp

This is probably the most hyped book in history. I know, I know, it’s insane that I haven’t read this series! I really do want to read it though, because I’ve watched some of the movie adaptations which are incredible movies. I want to know what J.K Rowling and this series is all about!

2. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

22557272

This book has been especially hyped up this year, so much that I cannot resist and need to pick it up, even if psychological thrillers are not my kind of read. I want to give in to the hype and see if this book will live up to it. So far, I’ve heard mixed reviews.

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

18798983

This book has literally EXPLODED over the entire book community, be it booktube and the blogosphere! Everyone I follow on both mediums have absolutely loved this book. The need I have to read this book is incomprehensible. (Big word, fitting for such an immensely hyped book).

3. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

893136

I am planning to read this very soon. It’s currently sitting unread on my bookshelves, literally crying out to me. This book is very hyped up, and many people say it definitely lives up to the hype. I need to read it!

4. Vicious by V. E. Schwab

13638125

I’ve heard countless people, especially on BookTube, rave on and on about how great this book is. It’s an extremely hyped book that many say is worth the hype, and I really really want to read it, because I have yet to pick it up.

5. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

8442457

I have never read this book, nor anything written by Gillian Flynn. Gone Girl is extremely hyped up though, along with the movie adaptation. I do plan on reading this some time in the near future, however, it’s not one I’m highly looking forward to reading compared to others.

6. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

12600138

This book is hyped. I’ve heard countless people talk about it and I just need to read it! Just thinking about the fact that I have not read this book kind of makes me feel a little sad, for some reason.

7. The Kiss Of Deception by Mary E. Pearson

16429619

I have never read this book. And I hate the fact that I haven’t read it. So many people have raved about how amazing this book is. Some have even said that the love triangle in this book is amazing. And how often do you hear someone actually loving a love triangle? Not very often!

8.Red Rising by Pierce Brown

 15839976

I’ve heard many BookTubers go on and on about this book, so it’s hyped. And I have never read it. But man, does it sound good!

9. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

6547258

This is such a crazy hyped book! One of the biggest hyped fantasy books, if I say so myself. I feel so incredibly sad that I have not read this yet. I need to put it on high priority soon, because I want to know for myself, just how great this series is.

10. I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson

20820994

So many bloggers and booktubers I know have rated this book 5 stars. Jandy Nelson in general has been really hyped up! But I most definitely want to get around to reading this hyped book as soon as I can.

So, that is all the hyped books I have never read! But I do plan on reading them. Do you share the same books as me? Tell me in the comments.

Have you read any of these hyped books? If so, what did you think of them?
What hyped books have YOU never read? I’d love to know.

  3. WUT? You HAVE to read Harry Potter!!! I forgot to include Brandon Sanderson on my list, I knew there was someone I forgot. Gone Girl is a book I love and hate in equal measure, but love all the more because it was written well enough for me to hate it – does that make sense?! Lol R x

    1. I know, I know! I’m definitely reading Harry Potter when it gets around to nearly Christmas season when I have the most spare time.
Brandon Sanderson is an author which I want to read ALL his books!!
That was a very confusing sentence but I think I get it. xoxo 😂

  5. I won’t even say anything about Harry Potter because I think you know how much you need to read that one. Lol. I will say that The Book Thief needs to be read ASAP. Also, I’ll Give You the Sun was one of my favorite reads of the year so far! Happy reading!

    1. Yep, indeed I do know how much I need to read it.
Thank you! I’ll give me more motivation to stop neglecting the poor thing on my shelf! xoxo

  6. Great list! 😀

Josie, I sincerely hope you get around to reading the Harry Potter series asap. Not only do I love re-reading those books, I enjoy hearing the reactions of people who are reading them for the first time- brings back so many priceless memories! 😀

The Wrath and the Dawn, Ready Player One, I’ll Give You the Sun, and Vicious are all wonderful books! The Kiss of Deception was good- I’m not sure I loved the love triangle though, even though I thought it was super creative! I have yet to read the Final Empire- would love to make a buddy read out of it? 🙂

    1. When I read the Harry Potter series, I will be sure to give all my initial reading reactions as I go!
I’m glad you loved all those books!
Oh my gosh, yes. I would love to buddy read it with you! If you’re interested, just pop me an email through my contact/about me page, so we can maybe discuss a time to read it? xoxo

    1. Don’t worry, Harry Potter will get read this year, most definitely.
Mistborn and Ready Player One are seriously books I’m yearning to read ASAP. I hope you get to them this year!

      1. The Mistborn books are really long and intimidating which is why I keep putting them off. Hopefully I’ll get to Ready Player One soon though.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Yep, that exactly why I’m putting it off too.
I’m slightly afraid that I won’t be able to enjoy Ready Player One as much due to the old gaming references! But hopefully it won’t affect much.

  9. It would seem pretty blasphemous for us 1% to not have read HP. But as long as we band together, we’ll be okay! I’ve seen and felt the explosion of The Wrath & The Dawn recently too! I wasn’t too interested in it in the beginning but now? Yikes, I might need to read it soon too!

    Cheers,
    Joey via. thoughts and afterthoughts.

    1. Yes, we are all in this together! 😁
It seriously is insane! Are you familiar with the fairytale it’s based off of? The first time I saw it I though the cover was cool, so I put it on my TBR. Then it exploded with hype.
      Thanks for stopping by. 😄

      1. Nope! Pretty sure the whole concept is new to me. I mean, the name is familiar but otherwise new.

  10. I cried reading The Book Thief, so I’ll warn you about that. I actually read it because my grandmother recommended it. She was born in Germany in the 30s, and her family had to keep moving around, not because they were Jewish, but because of the war in general. She supplemented the book with her own memories, and it just hit me hard for some reason.

Harry Potter. I don’t know what to say.

I don’t really have any interest in Gone Girl (the book or the movie), but I’d really like to read Ready Player One and The Wrath & The Dawn.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yeah, one of the reasons I want to read this book is because I’ve learnt quite a bit about Nazi Germany and that time period really interests me. Knowing me, I’m an emotional person so I’ll probably cry too!

  11. I can’t wait for you to read the HP series! I recommend reading it when you’re sure to be able to give it commitment, because it’s a pretty lengthy series and the books get quite big. 🙂
I’m really looking forward to reading Vicious, The Wrath and the Dawn & The Kiss of Deception. Red Rising, The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl are all on my list too. XD So many books, so little time! Great list! ❤

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thank you, I can’t wait either. The commitment is why I’ll be leaving it until near the end of the year when I will have no more school to deal with. 😊
Ah yes so many books with not enough time to match. Here’s hoping we both get around to these books this year. xoxo

      1. 🙂 Makes sense!
Yes, fingers crossed for both of us! ❤

  12. I hadn’t read any of the Harry Potter books until this year. I read the first four books and hopefully will have the entire series finished by the end of the year. I’m basically just getting the books (well audiobooks) from the library, so it’s taking awhile to read them all since I have to wait!

The Wrath and the Dawn is really high on my list of books I want to read! If I don’t get around to it this month, I definitely want to push for next! 🙂 Great post!

    1. Wow, another person who started reading Harry Potter this year! This is an inspiration to me, haha! I’m going to start the series near the end of this year, most definitely.
Yes! The Wrath and the Dawn is seriously high on my TBR, people have been raving about it so much, but I’m not familiar with the fairytale its based off of.
      Thank you! xoxo

  13. Harry Potter is probably one of my favorite childhood series and I enjoyed I’ll Give You The Sun as well… Gone Girl was a disappointment and I didn’t really enjoy The Book Thief either. The other titles are still on my TBR…

    1. Glad to hear it! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you get to read those other books this year. xoxo

  14. I’ve read Harry Potter (if you like the movies read the books! there is so much more to Potter than on film), Gone Girl and Girl on the Train. If you’ve seen the movie Gone Girl, don’t bother with the book. Gillian Flynn wrote the screen play and the adaptation is pretty much like reading the book in two hours. I loved Girl on the Train. But mysteries are my thing. 🙂

Great list! There are a few on here in my to read pile as well.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I have not seen the movie so I will read the book! 😊
I’m not a big mystery girl, but we shall see how good it is for me!
      Thank you! xoxo

  15. The Girl On The Train was pretty good in the sense that it made you want to read it just to find out what was going to happen but it wasn’t mind-blowingly good (which I sort of expected for all the hype it’s been given). I’ll give you the sun is also on my TBR list- a couple people have been singing its praises so I think eventually I’ll give that one a try!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Well then, I’ll read The Girl on the Train definitely for the thrill of the ride! (Get it? Train? Ride? No that was pathetic, hehehe).
Here’s to hoping we both enjoy I’ll Give You The Sun! xoxo

  18. Read Harry Potter ASAP!!!! I never knew what I was missing out on until I finished them and now that’s all I want to read!! I’m the same with The Book Thief, it’s on my TBR, so is Gone Girl 🙂

    1. Eep! I will I promise! I feel like I’m missing out so bad.
I hope you get around to those books soon!

  19. I’ve read Harry Potter (years ago for the first time and I’m rereading it for the somanyth time), The Wrath & The Dawn, and Gone Girl, which I all LOVED. Then, I’ve also read The Book Thief because everyone loved it, and that was just meh. I don’t get the hype. Sure, it’s a different perspective, but the story (to me) was quite dull…
I’ve only read City of Bones from all the Cassandra Clare books, which are all hyped. I won’t be reading the rest though, because I really didn’t enjoy it. Also, I’m missing out on lots of contemporaries, because that’s just not for me. I still really want to read An Ember in the Ashes and Red Queen though.

    1. I’m so glad you loved Gone Girl and The Wrath and the Dawn. Well, we shall see how I like The Book Thief! I actually DNF’ed it the first time, because I couldn’t get into it!

I personally LOVED the Mortal Instruments series.
I can’t believe I didn’t put An Ember in the Ashes on my list! I seriously want to read it.
Red Queen was great, of course it wasn’t perfect. I have a review if you’d like to see. Its in my 4 star ratings (I think). xoxo

      1. The story itself wasn’t the problem, I really just (for some reason) couldn’t stand the writing of TMI. So I decided to just let that one go.
Oh cool. I’ll check out your review! ♡

  20. Love Harry Potter so I hope you get around to reading them sometime 🙂 I have read I’ll Give You The Sun. I grabbed it on a whim from the library and at first wasn’t too sure about it but then I really liked it!

    1. I hope so too, I will probably read it around October when I no longer have school! xoxo

  21. If you had to choose between Gone Girl and Vicious, I’d tell you to read Vicious first. Gone Girl is good, don’t get me wrong, but Vicious is on another level of great.

And of course the HP series is ace, but a real time commitment. Especially once you get towards the end of the series and the books get longer and longer. 🙂

I’ve only just heard of Player Number One and liked the sound of it! Will have to add it to the TBR…

    1. Well then, Viscous will be put above Gone Girl! I have a feeling its much better than Gone Girl also.
I think once I graduate this year I will take up on that commitment and complete the series!
If you are familiar with 80s/90s game references it will make your experience of reading Ready Player One THAT much better. I’ve heard many people say this. xoxo

  22. I haven’t read the Mistborn series either but I heard great things about it from the book lovers whose tastes I totally trust so I will read it hopefully this year or early 2016. Harry Potter is a must read -there are so many awesome moments they didn’t put in the movies. I’ve re-read every one of them at least 3 times and wouldn’t mind re-reading again.

Yes, I know I seriously need to read the Harry Potter series! Eeep! xoxo

I just started reading Harry Potter this year and I’ve been really loving it, so it’s never too late. 🙂 I’ve also read The Book Thief and Red Rising and really enjoyed them but didn’t think they were life changing it you know what I mean. 😛 I also really want to read The Wrath and the Dawn and I’ll Give Uou the Sun

  25. I only started Harry Potter in the beginning of the year but it is better that I was expecting =). You should try to read it. The Book Thief and I’ll Give you the Sun are both amazing and Red Rising is also cool but in the start it’s a little bit slow. I really want to read The Kiss Of Deception and Mistborn but I don’t know when that will happen
